John is a 75-year-old retired carpenter who still enjoys hikes in national parks and ridding his Harley-Davidson. He looks forward to the local club raffle and a catch up with the boys on a Thursday evening. He also enjoys playing bingo, listening to local radio and watching old western movies with his wife Jill. As he gets older and has to visit the hospital more often, he prefers quick and efficient healthcare with simple, bold instructions and hospital signs. He aims to enjoy the rest of his life traveling a little and spending time with family, especially his grandchildren.

Information Design - Is the ability to take complex data/information and create into something that is easier to comprehend. Information design uses visual methods to interpret data making it more efficient and effective for the audience. There are very crucial steps of planning and research involved making sure the data doesn't get distorted through the design process.
"Data is fairly worthless to most of us; it is the product of research and creation (such as writing), but it is not an adequate for communicating. To have informational value, it must be organised, transformed and presented in a way that gives it meaning...Information makes data meaningful for audiences because it requires the creations of relationships and patterns between data. Transforming data into information is accomplished by organising it into a meaningful form, presenting it in meaningful and appropriate ways and communicating the context around it..."
Nathan Shedroff
Instructional Design - Is the process in which data and information is altered into useful instructions to assist people on how to perform everyday tasks. Instructional designs are used to teach and help improve the learning process of the user. The main purpose of instructional design is to provide comprehensible and succinct information whilst still remain engaging.

The Good Food Fight is a good example of Interactive Design on the web. It allows you to have a food fight with one of the characters before you go on to view the healthy recipes. It lets you have some fun before you get down to the serious business.

Interactive Design is the process of creating an experience for others allowing them to relate or respond. It is focused on user experience and usability; which is an important part of Interactive Design. Interactivity is about real human engagement thus you must take into account factors from the user's perspective like ease of usability, effectiveness and enjoyment. "If I were to sum up interaction design in a sentence, I would say that it's about shaping our everyday life through digital artifacts-for work, for play and for entertainment..."
Gillian Crampton Smith
According to Nathan Shedroff, Interactivity can be divided into various spectrums.

Age: 20 Hometown: Western Sydney
- Currently a 2nd year student doing B Design(Visual Communications) at the University of Western Sydney. Ever since high school I knew I wanted a career in design. I was never good at the whole "studying" thing. I've worked with photography before, editing, re-touching and manipulating photos etc. Wanting to broaden my skills I am doing this course to hopefully pick up a wide variety of useful and interesting things.
